Ghosts

Everyone plays the same seeded match in the Empires Daily — but today's opponent can carry something extra: a vanguard from the army of yesterday's median player. No netcode, no real-time play — just today's board haunted by yesterday's result. Finish today, and tomorrow someone may fight yours.

A vanguard, not a clone

The ghost doesn't replay yesterday's match — it adds up to 2 troops to the bot's side, taken from the front of that player's final army: light ground troops only, never Settlers. Only the unit type carries over; every stat is rebuilt from the current template. That keeps placement always legal and difficulty always governed by the match's own dials — the ghost changes who you're fighting, not how hard the fight is.

Who becomes the ghost

Today's ghost is the player who finished yesterday's Daily in the middle of the board — the median score, not the best. Deterministic, so every player faces the same opponent, and the day's difficulty follows the typical player rather than the strongest one. If nobody finished yesterday's match, today's Daily simply runs without a ghost — nothing ever blocks the match.

The mirror

Your own army can be tomorrow's ghost: finish today's Daily near the middle of the board, and someone fights your vanguard tomorrow.

Reward

Beating an active ghost pays +10% on top of the normal score — a bonus, no new currency.

When it shows up

From your very first Daily — there is nothing to unlock first. The ghost is there whenever someone finished yesterday's match.
